About the service
The Healbe GoBe bracelet is a smart gadget measuring multiple key health indicators, and primarily the quantity of calories consumed with food. The bracelet also features a piezoelectric transducer enabling continuous measurement of pulse and more precise assessment of the calories spent. All in all, GoBe is many times more than a mere fitness bracelet.
About the contest
In 2012, we entered the final stage of the Web Ready contest in St. Petersburg and were able to present our project to investors. On that day, an investor, with whom we had been discussing collaboration for a long time already, visited the forum, found final inspiration to believe in us, and gave us a positive reply.
Investment
In the last three years, we gathered ca. $6M of investments. It included both private investment and financing from venture funds, including Starta Capital. Besides, we collected over $1M at the Indiegogo crowdfunding site from users who pre-ordered the bracelet.
Market
We give preference to the American market, where there are so many more people paying attention to their health and leading a healthy lifestyle. Therefore, we tend to invest a lot in marketing and promotion of our product in America. Today, the device is already being sold at AT&T, and we plan on contracting other large retailers.
Future plans
Currently, we’re completing development of both the software and hardware to offer a top class and convenient final product to the end user. At the same time, we are developing a second device with new functions, such as pressure gauging, ECG and stroke volume measurement by the bracelet, which will come handy to sportsmen.
